Visited a couple of times with our friend Rak who is a member of their club. The tasting room is always busy and the staff were very informative. On our first visit, the addicts were not at our best. Sue had to sit out side to rest, Shane wandered off in the gardens and David was absent in the restroom for a while. To be fair, we need to make a return visit for a proper rating.

1994 Fay Cabernet Sauvignon ($99)Rating: D

      Best Wine - October, 2007

This is a big wine, strong fruit still showing, but well balanced with tannins and a silky finish. Favourite of the night

I love this wine - it was one of the first big Cabernets I drank and it still impresses me. So much flavour on the palate, coffee, fruit and huge tannins. This will last for decades, and I hope to keep finding wines as good or better than this.
1992 Fay Cabernet Sauvignon ($89)Rating: C-D

Yum - Chocolate and berries that last in the mouth due to great structure after 12 years in the bottle. Need to get more of this.
1997 Fay Cabernet Sauvignon ($89)Rating: C-D

Excellent wine - great nose, a little fruit, lots of structure and long pleasing finish. This wine is just beginning to peak and should last for another 5-10 years. "Nice grip in the finish.". "Classic nose like napoleon", "sweaty horse leather and tobacco". An excellent wine that will last a few more years, ideal for a steak dinner.
1998 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon ($94)Rating: C-D

Good strong fruit, balanced as ever in the SLV, not as big as the benchmark 97, but it has the same mouthful of flavours and finish
1999 Cask 23 Cabernet Sauvignon (Double Magnum) ($750)Rating: C-D
Jan 2nd, 2004
      Best Wine - January, 2004

Our friend Rak opened this bottle to celebrate the engagement of Shane and Sue, what an amazing gift. It has great potential, but we drank it early and did not give it enough time to really open up (at least a day this early). Huge medley of fruits and tannins with a finish that does not disappoint, beautiful.
1999 Fay Cabernet Sauvignon ($80)Rating: C-D

My first taste of Fay Cabernet from SLWC, and like the SLV, I fondly remember the first taste. Not as big as the SLV, but exquisitely balanced filling the mouth with chocolate and fruit with a big finish. Excellent choice for a steak diner.
2000 Fay Cabernet Sauvignon ($70)Rating: C

Good balance, with the classic Fay flavours and tannin combinations on the palate, medium-long finish
2001 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon ($85)Rating: B-C

Disappointing for such a great wine in past years. Dark garnet colour, with long legs and a good nose, but little fruit and limited tannins. Not a long finish like earlier years. Will taste again at a later date.
2002 Napa Valley Merlot ($34)Rating: B-C
Dec 31st, 2007
Red berries and chocolate on the palate, a smooth balanced Merlot with clean finish
2001 Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon ($36)Rating: B
Mar 5th, 2004
A little disappointing for the year and winery, but I found this a little thin on the palate. Not as much fruit as other wines or years and an okay finish. I hope this improves with time, I will be tasting it again.
2003 Napa Valley Merlot ($32)Rating: B
Jan 30th, 2007
Nice balanced Merlot, I prefer the SLWC Cabernets, but this has potential.
