The tasting room is a bit snobby - reminded us of the larger Napa Valley tasting rooms where service is not known to be that good. Probably because we had got there after a great day visiting a lot of smaller Sonoma wineries and were expecting the same. Also the tasting room is in Healdsburg as opposed to being at the winery. I am sure they get a lot of traffic going through the tasting room as the service was not exceptional. It is quite big and sells a lot of merchandise.

1999 Reserve Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($60)Rating: C
Aug 24th, 2007
Initially very fruit and tasted more like a 2002 or 2004 vintage. After another 30 minutes, it became a more balanced wine with less fruit and plenty of body, but after an hour it became all tannins. A chameleon of a wine, I preferred it as a balanced wine, rather than the fruit bomb or tannic bomb.

A firm and well structured wine. Very nice. Not sure if it's worth $60 but an excellent wine. The best wine of the winery but probably not the best value.

An ok Zinfandel. According to Dave it's a "Wednesday wine". Sue was tasting cherries and black pepper. Smooth

Slightly vegetable on the palate, soft dry finish. Not sure that this is going anywhere.

More fruit on the nose, dry finish. Chalky and white pepper finish.
