I am not really too sure how to describe Behrens and Hitchcock other than it is one of the best tasting experiences we have had in Napa Valley. Again we got a little lost trying to find it but eventually stumbled through the gate to be met by Robin, the only person working there for the day. The weather was freezing so we didn't get to enjoy the views, which were stunning overlooking Napa Valley below. Robin took us downstairs into a barrel room with four high chairs around a tasting bar where we noticed a variety of different wines from different producers (all very small production). "The Co-op Tasting Bar". There I noticed Robert Nenow wine on the counter which was particularly funny, as I have been looking for this wine for some time. The wines were stunning - We had a hard time remembering having so many top quality wines in one location. The service was excellent and Robin was great to hang out with. Our only regret was not spending more time here as we were pushed for time with our next appointment. Highly recommended. August 2009 - We have been going to the Erna Schein open house every year and it is an event not to be missed. Great bbq and excellent wines - it really is a great way to spend the day.

Spectacular, Shane has been looking for this wine for years. Nice palate with good fruit with a hint a hint of coffee, yummy on the tongue and lots of good tannins on the finish, nice warm mouth feel to finish. Would be great with a steak. Stunning again, huge finish chocolaty.
2005 Behrens Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($75)Rating: C-D

Elegant long finish, a stunning wine with a great nose. Smooth and balanced, still taste it one minute after drinking it. Not a big finish, but a long smooth finish. Good cabernet nose - an excellent wine.
2005 Zeitgeist Cabernet Sauvignon ($45)Rating: C-D

125 cases, Good nose, amazing fruit on the palate. Amazing finish, a great wine. First wine for husband and wife winemakers, only 5 barrels out of 14 chosen. A fantastic finish, lovely flavours on the palate, should last for years.
2006 Zeitgeist ($60)Rating: C-D

Another beautiful wine from Zeitgeist, the 2006 is 100% Cabernet sourced from two vineyards. It was actually my favorite wine at the Erna Schein Open House. Nice fruit up front with long tannins. Very good wine.
2003 Behrens & Hitchcock Merlot ($35)Rating: C
Jan 20th, 2008
Amazing structure, Merlot blended from 3 vineyards - excellent value at $35. Almost a cabernet/Syrah, lots of fruit with lots of structure and fruit, big Merlot.
2005 Erna Sheins Cemetery Cabernet Sauvignon ($75)Rating: C

2005 Erna Sheins Herrick Moulds Cabernet Sauvignon ($65)Rating: C
Jan 20th, 2008
RP rated this 92-94. Burnt coffee on the nose with good structure and long finish - an elegant wine. A nice wine, but a lot happening on the palate. Drinking well right now, may last for another 5-10 years.
2005 Spare Me Cabernet Sauvignon ($45)Rating: C
Jan 20th, 2008
A nice drinker - coffee and fruit, balanced on the palate with a smooth finish and good tannins. Another excellent cabernet, good fruit and tannins.
2006 Knock Out ($75)Rating: C
Aug 15th, 2009
87% Cabernet and 13% Merlot. A very solid wine with excellent fruit upfront and long tannins on the finish. 92 points Robert Parker. Deep ruby red
2005 Erna Schein Syrah ($44)Rating: B
Jan 20th, 2008
Tight wine, dark ruby red, needs time. Syrupy, tons of fruit, good tannins, not mad about it right now, but might come back to it later.
2005 Crop Syrah ($20)Rating: A-B
Jan 20th, 2008
The label on this wine looks like crap - "Fire the marketing department". Fruity and earthy, but not a great finish. An average $20 wine, but not mad about it.
