Where surfing meets wine!! Longboard vineyards is like walking into a surfers paradise - We were actually driving by, noticed the name, turned around and went in to check it out. There are surfboards all over the tasting room, TVs showing surfers catching monster waves in what looked like Hawaii, and surfing magazines at a table to sit down at and read through. Even the tasting counter is a surfboard. Cool tasting room, but what about the wines? After all, that is the reason we are in wine country!! Also the tasting room has cool clothes - t-shirts, sweaters, caps, etc. We enjoyed the wines and again, another very friendly experience (it is very refreshing not being in Napa). Check it out!!! The winemaker Oded Shakked was formerly the winemaker at J Winery, which focuses on Pinot Noir.

2006 Pinot Noir ($28)Rating: B-C
Dec 8th, 2007
Best Value Pinot Noir of 2007

New release and excellent Pinot Noir. Very good price. This is the first production so the price will no doubtedly go up next year. Classic Pinot nose with a good finish. Very good
2004 Dakine Syrah ($45)Rating: B
Dec 8th, 2007
Dakine is a Hawaiian word for "the best", and this Syrah is also blended with Zinfandel, Grenache, Malbec, Carignan and Petit Syrah. Nice but we did not think it was worth $45
2004 Redgrav Cabernet Sauvignon ($50)Rating: B
Dec 8th, 2007
The Cabernet was open for two days and was still holding up surprisingly well, but we would like to come back and try this again. 100% Cabernet from a single vineyard.
2004 Russian River Valley Syrah ($28)Rating: B
Dec 8th, 2007
Lots of tannins in this Syrah which leads to a dry finish. A smokey Syrah that would be nice with a BBQ
2005 Russian River Valley Syrah ($30)Rating: B
Jan 17th, 2010
Good chewy syrah with medium finish
2006 Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc ($24)Rating: B
Dec 8th, 2007
Crisp, citrusy sauvignon blanc. Nice Summer wine
2005 Dakine Merlot ($24)Rating: A-B
Dec 8th, 2007
95.9% Merlot, 3.1% Malbec and 1% Cabernet. Very floral, perfumy nose which led to a floral taste and finish. Not too mad about it
2007 Dakine Merlot ($24)Rating: A-B

Mild fruit with sweet finish
