We love the wines of Beringer so we were very excited to visit Sbragia (Ed Sbragia is the head winemaker at Beringer). We had tried one of the 2002 Monte Rosso Cabs in a restaurant previously and thought it was excellent, so we had been planning on visiting the winery for a while. The winery itself is pretty amazing. The road up to it is quite steep, and the winery looks very modern with a large, open-plan tasting room that can cater to a big crowd. The best part is the large outdoor deck that has incredible views over Dry Creek. A great place for a good glass of wine!! Unfortunately we visited Sbragia on the weekend of a wine event so it was pretty busy but we will definitely go back again.

2003 Rancho del Oso Cabernet Sauvignon ($75)Rating: C
Mar 10th, 2007
      Best Wine - March, 2007

Definitely the biggest of the Cabs - It is interesting to taste the three Cabs from different areas side by side. The Rancho del Oso has a lot of fruit and long finish typical of a Howell Mountain wine
2003 Gamble Ranch Chardonnay ($35)Rating: B-C
Mar 10th, 2007
      Best Value Chardonnay of 2007
      Best Chardonnay of 2007

This was a surprisingly crisp Chardonnay with a big finish. Sue got butterscotch flavors. Shane enjoyed it.
2003 Monte Rosso Cabernet Sauvignon ($50)Rating: B-C
Mar 10th, 2007
A bigger Cab than the Andolsen. Good fruit upfront - a well structured wine with nice tannins.
2003 Andolsen Cabernet Sauvignon ($35)Rating: B
Mar 10th, 2007
Lots of berry upfront. Not big tannins at the finish. Hints of cherry
2005 Gino's Vineyard Zinfandel ($28)Rating: B
Mar 10th, 2007
Tasted out of the barrel. Good fruit with lots of pepper (Sue is not a big pepper fan so Shane got to finish hers).
