Our first tasting of the day was at Ehlers Estate, a small winery just north of St Helena. The $10 tasting fee goes to international cardiovascular research which was nice to see at a Napa winery. There was one server working there the morning we arrived and we had excellent service, partly because we were the only people there. The server was very knowledgeable and friendly, the wines were good, so overall a good start to the day. The only complaint was the size of the measured pours - extremely small.

Single vineyard off one acre parcel. Total production 445 cases. Great nose, good smooth tannins - Definitely a well balanced wine. Easily best of the winery (100% Cabernet). Very good.

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Nice dark ruby red color, good nose, plenty of fruit up front. Definitely a young wine. Not huge tannins so not sure how much better it will get but I enjoyed it.
2005 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc ($20)Rating: A-B

Citrus aroma. Crisp and light. "Bite at finish"
